Last chance for Franklin’s learner riders
Franklin District Council is holding its last series of Motorcycle Basic Skills Handling tests over the coming weeks.

Franklin motorists may be mistaken for thinking they are in the African wilds over the next few weeks. A herd of zebra have begun appearing at schools throughout the district!

Liquor licence cancelled because of gross breaches
At a hearing held in Pukekohe on 2 August 2010 the Liquor Licensing Authority cancelled the off-licence held by Fresh and Save for their premises 231/235 Manukau Road, Pukekohe.

Failing to drive to the conditions causes crashes
Franklin’s Road Safety Liaison Group has released its latest report, for the period 1 June – 1 August 2010.
Of the 171 crashes in the district, one of these was fatal and caused by driver error.

Elections 2010

Franklin Heritage Festival

The Franklin Heritage Festival runs from September 24 to October 3 with a collection of historic photos, videos and other displays in the foyer of Franklin: The Centre, along with a multitude of activities throughout the whole Franklin District.

Among the highlights are:
• A historical photographic exhibition at Franklin The Centre
• Historical photographic exhibition by Pukekohe Indian Society at Nehru Hall
• Naming of the Lady Franklin Reserve in Waiuku and unveiling of a plaque
• “Wedding Dresses Through the Ages” event hosted by Karaka Historical Society
• A talk on the history of the hotel over tea and scones at Tuakau Hotel
• “Franklin Governance” photo exhibition by Franklin Historical Society at the old Pukekohe Borough Council building
• Field trip with presentations by archaeologists to Taputiketike Pa, a Ngaati Te Ata site at Waitangi Falls.
