Length

Please keep posted comments 250 words or less.

No-no’s

The following in any posted comments will automatically result in that post being deleted and Council reviewing your subscription:

• Lies or unfounded comments 
• Defaming anyone 
• Obscene language 
• Abusive or threatening language 
• Anything illegal or in violation of copyright or trademark 
• Discriminatory comments of anyone’s race, religion, nationality, gender, age or anything else really. Discrimination is bullying – bullies aren’t welcome

Council may also review or modify your posted comments for the following: 

• Anything off-topic 
• Spammy 
• Self-promotional 
• Uncivil in any way 
• Disruptive to the community 
• Excessive hobby horsing (that’s when you need your own blog!)

Anonymity

Everyone in the community has an online alias which is the username assigned to you. Anonymity is important in online communities but it can also give a false security that you can be disruptive and destroy the conversation without contributing. Not so. You should clearly indicate any bias, agenda or affiliation if appropriate. We want you to take responsibility for your own words and be honest. Remember that Council at all times knows who you are and will tell the community if you don’t take self responsibility in this area.

However, your comments will only ever be reproduced outside of the blog (i.e. in a Council meeting or publication) with the privacy of your online alias.

Noncommercial

This is a community consultation area. Soliciting funds, advertising or soliciting goods and services is not appropriate for this forum and such behaviour will result in you being removed from the community. So don’t join in the first place if that’s your plan.
