Conservation Covenants Print

Throughout the District there are legal agreements between landowners and Franklin District Council called “Conservation Covenants” which protect and manage bush and wetland lots.  Franklin was once 85% forest - only 8% of which remains. That makes significant areas of native bush or wetland on private property worth protecting.

The owner retains the title to the covenanted land and will have specific requirements for management of the area registered on the certificate of title for the property. If you own, or are thinking of owning, a conservation covenant we want to make you fully aware of your responsibilities.
