Hazardous Substances Print

Part of Council’s role in ensuring the wellbeing of our residents is to safeguard against hazardous substances. The Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act provides rules that apply across the country and Franklin District Council is one of the agencies that enforce this act in Franklin.

Hazardous Substances Licenses are issued for storage and use of hazardous substances to provide for the safety of people and to protect them from fire and explosion. Our Hazardous Substances Officer will investigate any concerns about hazardous substance storage and use relating to public places or dwellings. OSH is the enforcement agency for Hazardous Substances in the workplace.
