The Government has increased the rates rebate thresholds to provide a larger rates subsidy to more low-income homeowners.
The following changes are in effect for the Rates Rebate Scheme for the rating year beginning 1 July 2009:
The maximum rebate has been increased to $550.
The income threshold for receiving the full rebate has increased to $21,910. Those earning more than $21,910 may still be eligible for a part rebate.
Homeowners can apply for the rates rebate from the time of receiving their Franklin District Council and Regional Council 2008/09 rates.
