Council regularly tests fresh and salt water recreation areas around our District each summer for water safety.  Find the latest results below:

Please note - 280 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml is our “Action Level” (i.e. when a beach would require warning signage and/or closure). This is helpful to know in relation to the figures below. 

Orua Bay:
 

Tested 14 January 2009 - 2 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
Tested 11 December 2008 - 10 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
Tested 26 November 2008 - 160 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml

 

Big Bay:

Tested 14 January 2009 - 16 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
Tested 26 November  2008 - 4 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml 

 

Sandspit:
 

Tested 14 January 2009 - 88 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
Tested 26 November 2008 - 6 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml

 

Glenbrook Beach:

Tested 14 January 2009 - 15 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
Tested 26 November 2008 - 16 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml

 

Clarks Beach:

Tested 14 January 2009 - 6 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
Tested 26 November 2008 - 7 MPN (Enterococci) per 100ml
