We want you to have fun in the District but to take care of our parks and reserves. When you use a park or reserve in Franklin please remember:

  • Our parks are rubbish free parks, take all rubbish home.
  • Please be aware that our shellfish are under threat and observe shellfish regulations. The Ministry of Fisheries (MAF) website has more information about collecting shellfish.

  • Recreation is encouraged in most reserves however please be considerate of other users. Our parks and reserves are for everyone.
  • Take all valuables with you and lock your vehicle at all times.
  • All motorised vehicles, including motor bikes, are strictly prohibited on sand dune and reserves.
  • Camping is only permitted in designated areas. Campervan dump stations located on Franklin Road in Pukekohe, Tamakae Reserve in Waiuku, and on St Stephens Ave in Tuakau.
  • Open fires are not permitted.
  • Dogs are welcome in many parks. Dog restrictions vary from park to park and it is very important to abide by these rules.
