The vision for the District is to provide an abundance of quality sports and recreation options, providing safe walking and cycling routes while also providing wildlife refuge and sustaining ecological values.

In working toward this vision Council will also meet its mission statement of planning an environment that offers great living, working and recreational options, connected to cities by well developed transport links

Regional Involvement

Franklin District Council is a participating member of the Auckland Regional Sport & Physical Activity Strategy (ARPASS).  You can learn more about the strategy (which acknowledges the importance of sporting excellence, and aims to arrest and then reverse the declining levels of physical activity in the Auckland region) by visiting the ARPASS website:
