All Welcome To Manukau Rd Project Drop In Day Print

26 January 2010

A Drop In Day for a major project on Pukekohe’s busy Manukau Road is being held on Friday 12 February.

The public are invited to view proposed plans and give their feedback and suggestions.

The proposed plans for the road include the installation of the first set of traffic signals (lights) in Franklin, intersection improvements and a median strip (including access points) constructed along portions of Manukau Road to Nelson Street. Work will also include a new roundabout at the intersection of Glasgow Road and Subway Road.

Franklin District Council GM Works and Services Barry Bergin says, “This is a hugely significant project for Pukekohe and Franklin. It will see the installation of the first set of traffic lights for the district, a milestone in itself. The proposed project will also see the construction of safety measures along one of the busiest roads in the district.”

“We invite the public to find out more and give their feedback on the proposed plans.”

Members of the public can pop in at any time between 10am – 2pm to view draft plans and talk to Council staff about the proposed work.

After taking into account public feedback and further investigation, plans will be finalised by mid 2010.

Work on the first stage of the project will begin in the summer construction season, starting around October 2010.
