Council Adopts Annual Report Print

22 October 2009

Franklin District Council adopted its Annual report for the year ended 30 June 2009 at today’s Council meeting.

An Annual Report is produced by Franklin District Council after the end of each financial year which outlines Council's financial performance and level of service achievement.

Franklin District Mayor Mark Ball says, “The financial year covered by this report has been one of massive international financial uncertainty, coupled with the pressures and extra work load in regards to the Auckland Governance review. We are very pleased to report that the performance of this Council during this period has been creditable.”

“I’d like to thank CEO Sally Davis and her staff for their hard work in achieving this outcome in light of these uncertainties. The coming year will undoubtedly be dominated by significant organisational change as we plan for the transition to the new governance arrangements for Auckland.”

Major achievements have included:
Completion of the $1.9 million Waiuku Town Centre Redevelopment stage 1
Completion of the $1.8 million Pukekohe Town Centre Redevelopment stage 2
Commencement of work on the $18 million Pukekohe wastewater treatment plant upgrade
Completion of $42 million of capital works (82.8% of budget) across the District.

An $18.6 million operating surplus is reported, which apart from a small general rate surplus, is made up of capital related funding items including $8.8 million of infrastructure assets vested in Council, $4.5 million of subdivision contributions, $1.8 million in roading subsidies, a $0.4 million stormwater capital grant and $2.2 million funding for the repayment of debt.

Copies of the Annual Report can be viewed by mid-November at Franklin District Council, 82 Manukau Rd, Pukekohe or can be downloaded from www.franklin.govt.nz shortly.
