Last chance for Franklin’s learner riders
Franklin District Council is holding its last series of Motorcycle Basic Skills Handling tests over the coming weeks.

Liquor licence cancelled because of gross breaches
At a hearing held in Pukekohe on 2 August 2010 the Liquor Licensing Authority cancelled the off-licence held by Fresh and Save for their premises 231/235 Manukau Road, Pukekohe.

Failing to drive to the conditions causes crashes
Franklin’s Road Safety Liaison Group has released its latest report, for the period 1 June – 1 August 2010.
Of the 171 crashes in the district, one of these was fatal and caused by driver error.

July Council Meeting: Community Loans approved, Nelson Street stormwater project approved, Development Strategy for a rural-based economy adopted.
With only two more meetings scheduled before Franklin District Council is disestablished on 31 October, Council is still making decisions for the future of the whole Franklin community.

Franklin District Council is seeking public feedback on the district’s future transport needs.

Council decisions keep things moving
After the Council meeting held on 27 May, there are only four full meetings of Franklin District Council before local authority elections in 9 October, followed by the disestablishment of the Council and partition of Franklin District on 1 November.

Tuakau Bridge to be closed at night for about 3 weeks
Major essential maintenance work has been underway on Tuakau Bridge for some time and now the time has come to replace the road surface. The final part of this work necessitates the full closure of the bridge while the work is carried out.

No Reduction in fees for Franklin
The Herald published a story on 18 May trumpeting a reduction in fees for a variety of Council services (including dog registration and building fees) when the Auckland Council takes over on 1 November. Underneath the table used to promote the new fees it said, “*The Council fees exclude Franklin District due to its small size and lack of data”.
 

Meeting to discuss Patumahoe’s future sporting requirements Tuesday 11 May
A meeting of all parties interested in sport facilities in Patumahoe will be held on Tuesday 11 May at 6pm in the Patumahoe War Memorial Hall.

Restricted Fire Season Lifted from Friday 7 May
The Restricted Fire Season for Franklin Rural Fire Authority areas will be lifted from Friday 7 May 2010.

With only five more meetings to go, Council continues to work at getting the best result for Franklin residents

Tuakau Bridge Repair Work will start 12 April
Repair work on the Tuakau Bridge will commence on 12 April 2010 and is expected to continue until the end of May.
