We respect your privacy and as a Council we are governed by the Privacy Act 1993. This Act aims to provide better protection for individual privacy in relation to the collection, use, access, correction, and disclosure of personal information. This statement applies to the Franklin District Council website only.

We collect, retain and update personal information which you provide to us. You will provide information to us through using this website and the available related services and functions. You will also provide information to us in relation to our lawful functions and activities as a local authority. We aim to only collect information from the individual concerned and we should tell you why that information is needed.

We use this personal information for the purpose for which we collect it, in the exercise of our lawful functions and activities as a local authority. Property and Rates information is provided as an online representation of a public register under the Sections 27 and 28 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 and Section 41 of the Rating Valuations Act 1998. Franklin District Council is required to collect and maintain this information for the purposes of carrying out its functions under the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 and the Rating Valuations Act 1998. We are obliged to make this information freely available to members of the public.
