Franklin District has many key plans and bylaws that guide and regulate what we all do in our region. In this section you will be able to find out more about:


District Plan and Plan Changes

The Council's District Plan is a legal document, it helps us as a District to manage our natural and built resources.  Visit the District Plan Homepage to find out more.

Plan Change Index 

Council has progressed a number of Plan Changes, the largest being Plan Change 14, often referred to as the Rural Plan Change.  The Plan Change index allows you to easily see the Plan Changes.

District Growth Strategy

The Franklin District Growth Strategy is part of the Council’s commitment to sustainable development.  It's a plan for how to direct growth over the next 50 years.  You can download the DGS or learn more about its key themes.

Franklin District Council Community Plan 2006 - 2016 - A blueprint for the future.

The Franklin District Council Community Plan 2006 - 2016 describes all the activities of Council and shows a picture of how each activity will be managed, delivered and funded. It is a ten year plan that covers the first three years in detail and the next seven in outline. It is reviewed every three years.

Bylaws

Bylaws are local laws that apply in certain areas. Bylaws made by Territorial Authorities, such as this Council, apply within a District, and Bylaws made by a Regional Council, apply within a Region. Visit the Bylaws index page for more information on individual bylaws within Franklin District.
