Waiuku Town Centre Upgrade Print

Council has been working with the Waiuku community on a project to upgrade the Waiuku Town Centre. In 2003 a concept plan for the long term development of Waiuku town centre and its surrounding fringes was produced and presented to the community for their input. Following this consultation on the concept plan, architects were engaged to commence detailed design work on the early stages of upgrading the Main Street of Waiuku.

What is Happening:

Stage one of the project was completed in March 2009.  The $2 million project included new footpath paving, landscaping, kerb & channel,  street and amenity lighting, street furniture, stormwater, and electrical works.

What is Next?

Stage two of the upgrade, which includes lower Queen and Bowen Streets and creating a town square around the clock tower, has been approved in the Long Term Council Community Plan.  Work on the $2m project will begin later this year.
